| Not that this gets wide readership or anything, but if you know someone in the Seattle area who might like to hire a well-spoken, energetic, and intelligent 22-year-old with a BA and experience in nonprofit PR and community organizing, let me know.

| A deranged mountain man, armed to the teeth, who promised to shoot trespassers on sight.
An icon of 60's drug culture.
A groundbreaking political journalist who uncovered shocking truths about American politics.
A brilliant sportswriter whose humor was second only to his insights on football.
A crotchety old man who wouldn't take any bullshit.
...all in the same body.
It's frightening to think that because of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hunter S. Thompson might be better-remembered for the contraband that flowed through his veins than the insight he brought to American culture. Eternally disgusted, half-crazy, and pure genius, the Doctor constantly challenged convention not to destroy its adherents, but to protect them from their own hypocrisy. Constantly obsessed with the American Dream, he was in a way its eulogist, full of enough ire to point the finger at its murderers. He shot himself, I'd like to think, so he could go on his own terms before his brilliance faded.
Loved or hated, a great American intellectual died the other day. | comments: Leave a comment |

| The Rance Mulnix show on Saturday was amazing, and afterward I hung with a few people I hadn't seen in awhile. We all drank just a little more than we should have, ended up skipping a house party (which El-P attended!) and got late-night pizza at Allah's gift to Montreal, the 24-hr Lebanese dream known as Al-Taïb.
Some time in the early morning an awesome faraway girl called to tell me how she feels, and now the world's crazy. | comments: Leave a comment |

| | Grow your hair really long, take a "before" picture, then go with a camera to a bunch of different hair-cutting places throughout the day, getting haircuts. Take a picture each time. See if anyone notices that you just got your hair cut, and take an "after" picture once you have no hair left. | comments: Leave a comment |
